Having a Sniper Scope equipped, even if not being zoomed out, drastically increases the enemy spawning rectangle. This applies to a Campfire, Heart Lantern, Star in a Bottle, and even banners. If they are inside the radius, zooming outside of the radius will cause the player to lose the buff. If zoomed into an area affected by an area-buff item, the player will receive the buff even if they are not inside the radius.Example: The player is standing in a Forest biome, zooms in on a Glowing Mushroom biome, the music changes to the Glowing Mushroom biome music. If zoomed in on a biome with different music than the one the player is in, the music will change upon zooming. The player can combine the zoom function with a spelunker potion to dramatically increase the area in which the player can find ores and loot. However, this benefit should be weighed against the limited nature of its damage buff even a Ranged-specialized character could get more benefit from the base Destroyer Emblem, because the extra damage also applies to minions. The Sniper Scope actually has a higher ranged critical hit bonus than the Destroyer Emblem.

The Sniper Scope's zoom stacks with that of the Sniper Rifle. The zoom effect is identical to the that of the Binoculars or the Sniper Rifle, but the Sniper Scope can be used simultaneously with any applicable gun.The critical strike and damage bonuses are still applied to all ranged weapons. Thus, the Sniper Scope does work with the Candy Corn Rifle, the Flamethrower, the Elf Melter, and the Stake Launcher.Piranha Gun or Rainbow Gun (neither of which use ammo). the Dart Rifle (which uses Darts), nor with other weapons with "gun" in their name, e.g. The zoom function of the Sniper Scope only works with guns that use Bullets, Candy Corn, Gel, or Stakes as ammo.
